Dr. Asatoorian has over fifteen years of clinical experience in a wide variety of settings. He has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds and uses a Cognitive-Behavioral approach for treatment of behavioral health complaints, including anxiety disorders and depression. The facilities where he has gained clinical training and experience have included community mental health , nursing home, medical center, correctional facility, and state hospital. He received specialized training through his placement in the APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship program at the West Los Angeles VA, providing clinical care and conducting neuropsychological evaluations for veterans presenting with a broad range of psychological, emotional, and cognitive complaints. Dr. Asatoorian has also developed and presented workshops for behavioral health providers focused on the unique needs of military service members, veterans, and their families with deployment-related concerns. His research interests and experience have included PTSD and combat veterans, along with presentation of research findings at conferences.
In his forensic practice, Dr. Asatoorian has performed numerous medical-legal evaluations in civil, Workers’ Compensation, and criminal matters. His expertise with a wide range of psychological tests and a detailed approach, leads to the formulation of opinions based on substantial evidence. He previously worked as a psychologist at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation conducting mental health assessment and providing treatment. Dr. Asatoorian also specializes in the evaluation of Workers' Compensation applicants and is a Qualified Medical Evaluator.
Prior to receiving his doctorate degree from the APA-accredited program at Pepperdine University, Dr. Asatoorian earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Psychology from California State University, Northridge.
